Our Programs

Our bachelors in Hispanic Studies, Teaching of Spanish, Spanish-Economics and our minors in Spanish and Italian fulfill the dual objective of building students’ competence in a foreign language while developing cultural awareness and critical thinking skills. These proficiencies are highly sought in today’s global marketplace.

The M.A. and Ph.D. in Hispanic Literary and Cultural Studies and Hispanic Linguistics encourage innovative and independent research that crosses traditional disciplinary boundaries.

The department also offers a separate Master’s in the Teaching of Spanish, the only program of its type in the Chicagoland area. It includes a Concentration in Heritage Speakers, making its curriculum unique in the country.
