In Spanish 202, we study grammatical terminology and then explore how different elements of Spanish grammar vary depending on location, social group, and situation. Why do people think some ways of speaking Spanish are “better” than others, and what ideologies underlie such opinions? We explore what language science tells us about different ways of speaking and learn how to promote linguistic social justice.
