Academics

The UIC program in Italian is designed to develop students’ proficiency in the Italian language as well as to promote global communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving, and engagement with the ideological realities of our interconnected and diverse society.
We offer Italian language and culture courses from the elementary (101-104) to the advanced level (200-300) and a wide range of Italian and Italian American culture courses, such as Dante's Divine Comedy, Italian and Italian American Cinema, or Literary and Cinematic Kitchens: Food in Italian Culture and Society. The Italian faculty's proactive mentoring facilitates a variety of internships and volunteering opportunities for students.
