Kim Potowski’s project “The Bilingual Advantage Starts at Home” receives funding from the Presidential Initiative to Celebrate the Impact of the Arts and the Humanities

As part of the inaugural Presidential Initiative to Celebrate the Impact of the Arts and the Humanities, Kim Potowski (Hispanic Linguistics) and UIUC colleague Melissa Alise Bowles will receive $140,000 to help fund their project "The Bilingual Advantage Starts at Home."

This project "aims to raise awareness of the lifelong benefits associated with being bilingual" and will train graduate and undergraduate students and UIC and UIUC to "design educational materials and brochures for students, teachers, school administrators and parents across Illinois." It's estimated that the project will reach over 2,500 school teachers during it's two year run.
