Emanuela Carney to receive AATI Dante Alighieri Award
Dr. Emanuela Zanotti Carney has been selected by the Illinois chapter of the AATI (American Association Teachers of Italian) to receive the 2015 Dante Alighieri Award.
The mission of the AATI is to promote the study, teaching and appreciation of Italian culture and language in academic and community settings. Every year, the organization bestows the Dante Award on an individual in the community who has promoted Italian in a noteworthy way.
Dr. Carney has distinguished herself for her tireless work as President of Italidea-Midwest (a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of Italian language and culture in private and public schools) and as a member of the "Osservatorio per la lingua italiana" (a committee that works closely with the Italian consulate in Chicago to promote and support the AP Italian programs and exams in the Midwest), her participation in professional development workshops, and for her important contribution to the Italian program at UIC.
