Join the Department of Hispanic and Italian Studies for a lecture by Professor Grazia Menechella from the University of Wisconsin-Madison titled “Julia Lovejoy Cuniberti: The Midwesterner who Adapted Italian Culinary Traditions for American Kitchens."

Julia Lovejoy Cuniberti (1888-1987) grew up in Wisconsin and moved to Chicago after graduation from Vassar College. Julia Lovejoy Cuniberti published her cookbook Practical Italian Recipes for American Kitchens in 1917, based on her experiences in Italy. Prof. Grazia Menechella (University of Wisconsin-Madison) will discuss how Julia Lovejoy Cuniberti’s Practical Italian Recipes for American Kitchens (1917) promoted Italian home-cooking to Americans.
