Mary Thede received her MA in Spanish Applied Linguistics from New York University (Madrid campus) and her BA in Hispanic Studies and Psychology from Hamilton College. Prior to coming to UIC, she lived and worked in Madrid, Spain and New York City. While in Madrid, in addition to receiving her MA, she worked as an English-language teaching assistant at a high school and in international development at a university. Later in New York, she worked in the cultural exchange and educational technology fields. Her areas of interest include: second language acquisition, multilingualism, study abroad, and psycholinguistics.
