In just two semesters of studying the language at UIC I was able to go to Italy and have small conversations with Italian people right in front of Duomo! After finishing the minor I no longer feel intimidated when talking to native speakers in Italy. Once I even taught an Italian word to an Italian person that they didn’t know before. I felt pretty good about that! Now I can also show off my knowledge of Italian avant-garde and Italian cinema.
